Abstract | Thanakha leaves are often regarded as bio waste of thanakha cosmetic production. Thanakha leaves possess anti-oxidant property, anti-bacterial property and phenolic compounds. Ultrasonic assisted extraction method can achieved best result of polyphenol content in the 30% methanol concentration. Besides, 30% methanol and 50% methanol concentration of three extraction methods was considered to be best condition for percentage of DPPH scavenging activity than 70% methanol. Measuring of protein concentration can achieve desirable yield by using Ultrasonic assisted extraction. As an alternative of using methanol solvent, the extraction with distilled water to extract bioactive compounds from Thanakha leaves was emerged. An optimum time of 3 hour, with partial agitation found to be one of the most important criteria. After evaluating of bioactive compounds from Thanakha leaves, the process of anti-bacterial activity was preceded. The efficiency of anti-bacterial activity could be further improved by increasing of higher concentration of extract. The stdies was observed that using sodium alginate and chitosan for encapsulation of Thanakha bark powder for anti-oxidant activity gave not much significant befor and after encapsulation. The explore possibilities of using Thanakha leaves during soap making, the experiments have been conducted to characterize the physical properties and chemical properties of Thanakha leaves soap. Anti-bacterial activity of Thanakha leaves soap was tested by adding 0% (control), 10%, 20% and 30% of Thanakha leav powder to the soap. It was found that Thanakha leave soap showed inhibition zone against Escherichia coli. |
