AbstractThe Mekong Delta of Vietnam is considered to be the third largest delta in the world. Flowing form the mountains of Himalayas this river continuously feeds all aquifers along its stream. But in recent years, due to using of water by people for different purposes, the lack of water is very tangible. Hence, experts from various fields have been working to find the right solutions so that people do not face water shortages in the future. Therefore, one of the most important term is the study of the characteristics of the aquifer system in the deltaic area. At present, one of the most effective methods for the characteristics of the aquifer system use of well logging data. The images of 80 wells curves, which were in the analogue form, have been digitized and analyzed. Digitized data were made using a code in MATLAB. The digitized well log curves were plotted with the Grapher and used for zoning. The aquifer and aquitard parameters such as thickness, porosity, hydraulic conductivity, were obtained based on well log analysis. A total of more than 80 wells were analyzed and the characteristics of each well are presented in separate tables. Four cross section of aquifer systems were interpreted based on well correlation. Key words: shallow well log data, digitization, Zoning, Characteristics of aquifer system, Mekong delta.
