Abstract | Water monitoring plays very important role in aqua farm so as to maintain required conditions for the sea animals. Due to high demand on sea food various intensive farming methods have led to different water borne diseases . The prototype system that is designed to water monitor for aquaculture with low power platform and UAV has made the process simple and easy for aqua farmer. The making of this system is divided into three parts that is sensor platform, data transmission unit and data visualization. This system has got many useful features like low power consuming equipment and powered by solar energy. The sensor platform contains of a microcontrollers, transmission unit and many sensors. The sensor platform is normally equipped with Arduino 101, sensor shield, data logger and xbee shield, pH sensor and water temperature sensor. Xbee pro series one is equipped in this platform as it is low power consuming transmission unit. It is having limited range of one mile but has got many specifications and mode of transmitted data. Digimesh mode is configured with in this system so as all the platforms can communicate and transfer of data becomes easier. The data communication unit is the medium for transferring data from sensor platform to monitoring station. The design of transmission unit is done using the UAV, raspberry pi and coordinator xbee. UAV is the present technology which is used in many fields with its remote controlling features. Raspberry pi is a single board which is capable of processing data and also capable of being a microcontroller that can run the program. Python language is used to program raspberry pi due to its huge number libraries which help to achieve the requirements. The xbee is connected to raspberry pi by USB port and raspberry pi is powered by batter pack. This set of unit is connected to UAV and when it flies to sensor platform the code sends commands to the MAC address that calls the particular xbee and transformation of data takes place. After the transmission of data it is important to understand it so visualization helps to analyze it. In this research an online software called plot is used which produces the graph from csv file. After the data is received in raspberry pi it is uploaded to the software by the user which shows the data in graphical format. The coding that is used in this research is C++ and python. This prototype system which is developed helps the aqua farms by reducing the number of labor, maintenance of huge farms become easy and accuracy of the data increases. These advantages with the power management and solar energy make this system more efficient and user friendly. |
