AbstractVietnam Airlines Corporation (VNA) is a Vietnam State-owned enterprise operating in airline industry. Its core business is supplying flight services to passengers in domestic and international flight routes to/from Vietnam. VNA has grown fast recently with an average growth rate of 15-20%/year in terms of revenue and carried passenger volume. Many internal problems and weaknesses in VNA are also exposed. Economic development and the expanding aviation market give VNA great opportunities but also threats. It requires a new and appropriate development strategy for VNA in the long term in order to compete and grow in a new stage. Based on the analysis of the external and internal environment together with the determination of the strengths and weaknesses, this study developed the most appropriate development strategy for VNA in passenger air transport business.
