Abstract | A near surface mounted (NSM) fiber reinforced polymer is a strengthening technique to increase the shear capacity of concrete beam. The NSM techniques is based on fixing by epoxy adhesive, FRP rods into pre-cut slits opened in the concrete cover of lateral surfaces of the beams. Present study, a Finite Element Analysis was conducted to simulate the shear strengthening of RC beam by NSM FRP method with the experimental results. The linear and nonlinear structure response prediction were performed using ANSYS 2014, a finite element software and load-deflection plot, load-strain plot and crack patterns are compared with the experimental results. The failure mode of peel-off NSM FRP is critical failure. Therefore in this present study the main emphasis is the failure mode of peel-off of NSM layer |
