Abstract | The development of polymer grouting in early 1960’s has led to the introduction of Uretek Methods where concrete slabs or pavements can be raised, foundation ground can be consolidated to prevent further settlement of structures. Recent studies has also found that SPT values are increased with the highly expansion polymer injection due to soil compaction associates with polymer grouting. Increased shear strength in soils with polymer injection also leads to improved factor of safety, mitigating liquefaction due to earthquakes. In South East Asia, during recent years a number of successful trials on infrastructure projects show that polymer grouting is ideal solution to quickly repair roads, runway pavements. With polymer grouting, voids underneath slabs are filled, loads are transferred to sub-base, eliminating pumping actions under dynamic loads preserving life of pavements |
