AbstractThis thesis study describes about the satellite communication and focused on the Inter – Satellite Link (ISL), it starts describing from the orbit calculation to link power budget. ISL between LEO-GEO can solve limitation for communication between LEO satellite to ground stations. This paper applies conception from Data Relay Satellites (DRS) which were established by NASA,ESA and JAXA, these are operating to serve links satellite – satellite - ground in the invisible zone of ground station and LEO satellite, Data Relay Satellite is hardly established for developing country. Thus, GEO satellite is operated for commercial communication will be expected to install new antenna system for connecting with LEO satellite instead of generating new GEO satellite for DRS. This thesis study explains orbit calculation and determines criteria where is visible for GEO satellite and LEO satellites communication. Moreover, this thesis study also describes basic of RF link and necessary parameters are often used to calculate slink budget. Finally, this paper explains comparison the advantages of ISL between LEO-GEO with LEO-Ground and LEO-Polar Ground. Sun outages, antenna pointing accuracy, Doppler effects and cost analysis are also explained in this study. Moreover, this study tries to analyze if ISL is used, what is beneficial which happens to observation satellite.
