AbstractIn the modern era of competitive business environment, knowledge management (KM) is considered as the important factor for business managers, however it is also true that the benefits of knowledge management is not exploited to its optimum level by most of the organizations. Although there are numbers of research explaining the success of large organizations practicing knowledge management, however not much of it explaining the critical indicators for knowledge adoption in small organizations. For gaining competitive advantage over the market, in the modern business world, knowledge management is the key factor to a new strategic approach towards innovation for capturing larger portion of the market share. Getting a better idea of knowledge management evolution in the banking sector would reflect the influences on its performance. In a developing country like Bhutan, it is also showing signs of competition and improved performance through knowledge management; however whether the knowledge management process is practiced in Bhutanese banks is still to be discovered. In reaction to this need, this research explores the key processes and technologies of knowledge management being used in the bank of Bhutan in order to give an insight for bankers and strategist to understand its importance. This research studies the perception of knowledge management practices in Bank of Bhutan Limited as a case study. Bank of Bhutan is in the developing stage of knowledge management process, to find out information from the real scenario, will be more practical. The research identifies the concept of knowledge management practices. The aim is to understand the procedure of knowledge management and find out the gap in the organization. To conclude, it is understood that knowledge management process must be taken into every part of the organization to develop its competitive advantage in the market. Human resource is considered as an important factor for the implementation of Knowledge management. For this, the support and initiative must come from top level of employees followed by the whole organization. In addition, organization culture and environment is also an essential factor because each organization would have its unique pattern. Therefore, to sum up, an organization must allocate kind of knowledge management practices that are appropriate to its culture and business environment
