AbstractThe deployment of Wi-Fi network is growing rapidly due to its easy implementation and affordability in prize. The increase of Wi-Fi users and applications made heavy multimedia traffic in Wi-Fi networks. There are lots of performance issues in Wi-Fi network with respect to quality of services especially with the voice and video applications. This research provides in detail about the different channel access methods in IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.11e. This research also explains different researches already carried out to improve the performance of real time applications in Wi-Fi networks. In this research, We tried to solve the problem of performance degradation of real time traffic under high traffic conditions. Our proposed dynamic channel access mechanism improves the performance of voice and video traffic under different traffic conditions.
