Abstract | Export scenario of Bangladesh started changing since early 80’s and the overall composition of export commodities also changed since then. This study evaluated the performance of the major export commodities and the overall impact of export on the growth of GDP of the country. As export commodity woven garments and knitwear product that occupies the major share of total export. Together those commodities have significant impact (77%) on growth of export of the country. In this study, it was also found that there are significant relationship among the export growth and growth of real GDP, though the model explained 9% of the growth of GDP as there are many other domestic factors that determines it. Export to GDP ratio have shown very highly significant relationship with growth rate of real GDP but some serial correlation of error was found which demands further adjustment to the model. |
