Abstract | Established in 1990, Dong Nai Port, a state-owned company belonging to Dong Nai Province’s Department of Transportation, is specializing in the field of cargo handling and warehouse – jetty leasing as well as other maritime services. With over 18 years of development, Dong Nai Port has become one of the ten leading ports in cargo throughput in Vietnam. In order to increase sales and cargo throughput volume, the company has made an operational plan of expanding its market share in South Vietnam. One of the corporate objectives in 2010 is to achieve 10 % of market share in South Vietnam. It is really a difficult task that the company has to achieve in the conditions of the quality, service, and the current price war. This research provides an overview about the market in South Vietnam and an understanding of the Dong Nai Port Joint-Stock Company. It presents an analysis of the current situation of the company’s market in South Vietnam as well as its current marketing activities to identify its strengths and weaknesses compared to those of its major competitors. A proposal for a marketing strategy to expand its South Vietnamese market is recommended. |
