AbstractThis study was taken because in the year of 2012, there was several shocking news that impact the Vietnam banking industry so bad. The first news is about the merging of 3 local banks that are Saigon Commercial Bank, Tin Nghia Bank and Ficom bank. This also reflects the current of the situation of banking in Vietnam now that is the structure of investing between banks with each other. The objectives of this study is to analysis story of merging bank in Vietnam, the motivation and what happened behind this, Is cross investment between banks in Vietnam good or bad. This report was done by searching the article online and by seeking useful information from people in the banking through relationship. This finding results that every banks in Vietnam are invested by other local companies/banks/fund companies, of course there are advantages and disadvantages of cross investment. The finding will not advise how or should the bank cross invest to each other but I list out the disadvantages and advantages of cross investment, also to give a broader view the picture of banking situation in Vietnam
