AbstractA process-oriented management requires the integration of information to improve operation efficiencies. ERP system was born in such context of management environment. There are mainly two alternatives for ERP systems namely single vendor approach and BoB (Best of breed) approach. Single vendor ERP provides a better cohesion of integration on the business process with an inherited “best practice” therefore possibly requests a large scale of BPR (Business process re-engineering). BoB approach recognizes context as key to successful implementation, through selection of best suitable system components from different vendors, which thus requests considerably less BPR. Plasess Hi-Tech Co.,Ltd. is a middle sized company in electronics and automobile business. To improve the information flow and particularly overcome all the problems identified, the company has taken the BoB approach after a lengthy study and subsequently initiated the implementation. After one and half years, the empirical results are collected and a comparison with expectation is made to evaluate the benefits of ERP system. An analysis is also provided to identify the reasons for both success and failure, after which, a recommendation for improvements.
