Abstract | Software development organizations have focused on creating technology solutions either for large consumer base, or for specific customers based on needs. All organizations focus on latest trends, and technology. However, clients do not always require the latest trend, nor the latest technology, but they require solution providers. Therefore, solution providers need to fully understand client’s business requirement. Understanding the client’s business issue, and providing a solution that resolves the issue provides a competitive advantage to the software development organization. To obtain strategies that may provide this competitive advantage, the paper analyzes the current situation of Itorama Consulting, a strategic business unit of a family – owned conglomerate. It is discovered that focus on customer requirement, intellectual property, human capital, flexibility in combining software development methodologies integrated with ISO 9001, and Six Sigma principles to create technology – enabled applications provides a foundation to continuously improve for competing purposes. |
