Abstract | Porter’s Diamond framework is used to analyze the competitive advantage for particular industries in a country. And author applies this theory to analyze to the case of Vietnam Cement Industry at this time when Vietnam cement production is over supplied. Moreover, many positive sign affect to cement industry also is clarified. The author tries to capture a general picture of ASEAN cement industry and a short brief of Vietnam cement industry during development stages. In addition, a summary of the Vietnam economic especially construction development is pointed out to show the prospect for cement industry. Applying Porter’s diamond framework which include 4 main determinants such as factor conditions, demand conditions, firm strategy rivalry, and related & supporting industries find out the pros and cons that the Vietnam cement industry faces to. The other factors of government role and change role also have influence to contribute to cement development. The conclusion from the case is showed the advantage of the Vietnam cement industry; however, there are some factors such as labors skill, an overall strategy to export cement need, and machinery manufacturing industry are concern issues of Vietnam. |
