AbstractDistribution channel system is a key factor that affects the competitiveness of any business enterprises. A strong and professional distribution system is a big target of many companies, especially in pharmaceutical industry. Vietnam was the 150th member of WTO on October 11, 2006 so that foreign enterprises will be opened branches, office representative, manufacturers in Vietnam and Pharmaceutical foreign enterprises will be directly imported medicines into Vietnam market from January 01, 2009. Pharmaceutical foreign enterprises will not be distributed directly in Vietnam market perpetually. The competition between distribution domestic companies becomes more drastic and pierces than even before. In order to survive and successful, the domestic companies should find the way to develop their own core competencies to compete in the domestic market. Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Pharmaceutical industry in Vietnam has been growing faster compared to other industries. Pharmaceutical companies are active seeking to achieve competitiveness by having an efficient distribution system together with other practices such as ISO or GMP or GSP or GDP or GPP etc. This research study is an attempt to understand that affects the effective operation of OTC department to apply the better distribution system for pharmaceutical companies. The author chose Vien Dong Pharmaceutical Group as a case for finding, analyzing and solving problems by applied FMCG distribution channel model into OTC distribution system. This research study provides general guidelines for the domestic companies to have the better distribution system in pharmaceutical industry in Vietnam market.
