AbstractOn the 1st of October 2013 Age International launched the world’s first global age index – the first global study to rank 91 countries according to the wellbeing of their senior citizens. Sweden ranked number 1, Afghanistan 91. Vietnam has been positioned at number 53. This study, funded by the UN, is indicative of the importance that needs to be placed on addressing issues that do and will affect the senior citizen. As the world population ages, it is crucial that the world responds to the issues that are becoming ever prevalent. Vietnam is no exception; issues at the centre of an aging population need to be addressed - and addressing the health service available to the elderly is the perfect place to start. The demand for new and innovative care services is needed. It is not only senior citizens that demand a home based care service - those who have been injured or are suffering or recovering from illness are also in need of a home based service. Many people would prefer to recover at home than recover uncomfortably in a hospital bed. Home based care is a service that is seen in many countries throughout the world. To date however, there has not been a professional home based care service set up in Vietnam and more specifically Hanoi. This business plan will demonstrate that Vietnam is undergoing a massive demographic transition and will show that a home based care service that targets both senior citizens and those affected by injury or illness in Hanoi will meet the demands of many people living in an increasingly modern world.
