AbstractIn the era of global megatrend where the center of growth has gradually shifted from the West to the East, PTT Global Chemical sees an opportunity to respond to Asia’s emerging economy by seeking to become one of the leading petrochemical companies in the region. In order to reach for this achievement and maintain its international identity on a sustainable basis, the Company shall be able to bring out all of its core strength, at the same time, understand its shortfalls and seek ways to cope with them. This case research tackles PTTGC’s current and utmost challenges that could potentially devastate its sole competitive advantage the Company has long been addressed to all stakeholders. The research has been mainly conducted through the interview of PTTGC’s executives to better investigate PTTGC’s in-depth business and analysis. Both internal and external challenges are identified and analyzed using business strategy tools to better derive its core strength and shortfalls, and come up with a proposed strategic direction to match with the analysis outcome.
