AbstractPTSC Marine is a subsidiary of Petroleum Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) which is a member of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) providing marine services for the oil and gas industry inside and outside Vietnam. Its vision is to become a leading marine service company in Vietnam and South-East Asia region. With the 14 years of managing service vessels, PTSC MARINE has accumulated rich experience in service supply & development, marketing and personnel training. Currently, PTSC MARINE is evaluated by foreign petroleum companies, which have been operating in Vietnam, the most reputable vessel manager within the country. However, PTSC Marine’s fleet is small in quantity and weak in capacity to comprehensively meet customers’ demands compared to other companies in the region. PTSC MARINE is investing in multi-purpose petroleum service vessels to meet market demand, to increase the market share in technical services, gradually to dominate the Vietnamese market. The business environment is reviewed with an analysis of internal/external environment where there’re both opportunities and threats. Vietnam’s official participation in WTO and AFTA has provided good opportunity for PTSC Marine to join the petroleum service markets in the region and the world. It will also create fiercer competition in the area of petroleum services since there will be more and more foreign companies with technical and financial potentials in the Vietnam market. PTSC Marine has weaknesses in terms of financial resource/investment, human resource and marketing personnel. This research will provide an overview of company, its business environment, its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Business environment and SWOT analysis are used for alternatives of strategies. Each activity of the company is reviewed to find the real problem that company is facing and helps to find a best solution. The project’s findings would be useful for PTSC MARINE to study and develop different business strategies including financial & investment, marketing, human resource and strategies for expanding the company’s services abroad.
