| Abstract | Business development is a major focus of size of any construction company, which allows the company for successful company growth and increase of financial benefits. As organizational capabilities play a vital role of the success of this business development process by providing competitive advantage for the company. This study investigated the management of resources which formulates different organizational capabilities of two Medium size - BD Unsuccessful building contractors whom were stuck during the business development process and two Medium size - BD successful contractors whom succeeded the process from medium size to large size and identified each capability levels of the companies which are construction capability, procurement capability, financial capability, business managements capability, marketing capability and learning capability and found that the two Medium size - BD successful contractors who succeeded, had focused in the improvement of management in resources which formulate financial capability and business management capability, and the two Medium size - BD Unsuccessful contractors were stuck in the business development process due wrong focus of capability improvement, those were construction capability and marketing capability. And finally have suggested a development guideline for the required core capabilities for the Medium size – BD Unsuccessful contractors |
