Abstract | In performance of commercial bank, credit activities are indispensable part of commercial banks. It plays an important role to commercial bank of developing countries like Vietnam. In an economy with weak finance market, commercial banks have become a main source of financing for production and commerce that contribute substantially to economic development. In practical of any bank, risk always inherent in lending business and without adequate lending practice, possible loss is unavoidable. In recent year, with many efforts to build up stronger banking system, Vietnam‟s banks have also experienced many disappointed lending case. The reason explaining for such cases is from non-performing loans. Therefore, credit quality is always a big concern of all commercial banks at all the time. Growing up from practical status of Vietnam commercial banks, the research has analyzed deeply the credit activities of a commercial bank, taking the case of Vietnam Technology and Commercial Joint Stock Bank, Vungtau branch (Techcombank Vungtau). The research will introduce operation procedure, exiting practice and operation result of credit activities at Techcombank Vungtau. Select typical cases of bad loan are introduced to analysis the weakness of credit activity, both credit evaluation for lending and loan monitoring. Recommendations are given to improve quality at Techcombank Vungtau, mitigating the risk in lending and making credit activity safer. |
