AbstractJoining WTO, Vietnam has steeped deeper into international competition, where the shift of lower operating cost is more focused. Fortunately, Vietnam is one of most attractive invested destinations to foreign investors. The more foreign investment that is conducted, the higher the mixture of culture is. Most of expatriates, who are majority positioned as manager positions, will primarily apply their home culture onto the new cultural environment. Thus cultural differences can cause some cultural problems while they are working with local people. As a consequence, there are many obstacles arise, like nonverbal communication, sense of time, relationship building, negotiating, underestimate, and overestimate. Based on the information gained, the correlative-descriptive technique was applied and recommendations were formulated. Primary data sources were questionnaires being sent to 150 expatriates working in VN. There were 64 respondents, accounted for 43.33%. The second data and information were gathered from internet websites, books, articles and journals as the study area.A saying of an unknown wise that expatriates should remember while they are working in VN: "People will forget what you said; people will forget what you did, but people will NEVER forget how you made them feel."
