Abstract | PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Company (PVFCCo) is a subsidiary of Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam). PVFCCo has run the fertilizer plant with annual capacity of 740,000 tons of urea to supply to domestic fertilizer market. This plant is now operating at full capacity but cannot meet the domestic demand. More critically, the profit cannot be improved. To solve this problem, PVFCCo is planning to produce more kinds of fertilizers mainly used in Vietnam. On the foundation of project management, this study focuses on defining, analyzing and suggesting a solution for the problem of the researched company. Constructing a DAP plant in Morocco is considered the best solution for PVFCCo. With the estimated capacity of one million tons per year, the plant enables PVFCCo not only to meet the demand of fertilizers in Viet Nam but also to increase the annual average net income by exporting. This study is a detailed description of the rationales, the scale and the implementing procedures of the project in the viewpoint of project management. A few recommendations are also raised in the last chapter to indicate some practical issues which should be taken into consideration to be sure of the successful project |
