Abstract | This research demonstrates the creating and developing of the GIS database in the Bago river basin where is not introduced the GIS database in Myanmar. The drain area of Bago basin is 5058 kmĀ² and 331.5km long and the upstream portion is be laid by mountainous terrain. 21,498 streams are flowing and nine reservoirs and one diversion weir are located in this area. Consequently, there are many irrigated canal, gauged channel and sluice gates in it. So many water resources administration was be managed in this watershed area and they have different aspect of their functions. The management of Bago watershed system is a complicated function because many organizations are involved in the basin management. As a result, data sources availability are inflated and there is not effective to use in basin management. The main weather sources is coming from DMH but ID have their weather station. Then, DWIR and ID have their own flooding controlling management system. Such kind of repeated work, data accuracy and accessible are deviated from the certain value. For this purpose, to make a development of GIS database is required in watershed management. In this study, creating a GIS database design that is intend to develop the Bago Bain water resources management. 12-dataset information is be initiated for the entire GIS database. They are administration information, water resources information, surface water information, ground water information, irrigation information, flood information, land resources information, extreme events information, infrastructure information, terrain information, climate information and demographic information. To perform this research, ArcMap application have used for data processing and produced the mapping and ERDAS image application have applied in image processing. The making of GIS database can perform effectively in Bago basin watershed management and it can support to do the basin planning in future |
