Abstract | The integration into globalization of Vietnam economy strongly promoted development with the average growth rate of 7%/year. Each year, there are more than US$5 billions to be invested into Vietnam. Moreover, it was also converted from agriculture into industry and service economy. This quick development is a big challenge and also an opportunity for power sector improvement itself. This research studies the strategy of the corporation as a Vietnamese stated owned enterprise (SOE), on how it goes global in the context of globalization, and proposes it a suitable strategy for the next period. Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVN HCMC) is a SOE in the power supply sector in Ho Chi Minh City. It is the most important corporation among five distribution corporations under Electricity of Vietnam (EVN). To focus on continuously improving the performances of power supply and customer service, consolidating its leading position in power supply market in the future, EVN HCM needs to set up a strategic development as a concept involves consistent visions and commitments of the leaders of an organization. Those factors play a critical role towards its success, no matter what size or which industry. To fulfill this task, the question remains is how to implement successful strategies to achieve the best results with minimized costs and avoid heavy impacts if the implementation proves to be unsuccessful. This research investigates the problems confronted by EVN HCMC. Thus, Board of General Directors (BOGD) will then ponder carefully on all the information before coming up with final decisions, taking into account all aspects of the business |
