Abstract | COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) is also known as chronic disease. COPD is estimated as a cause of death of about 600 million people worldwide by The World Health Organization (WHO) and considered as the fifth leading cause of death. Because of increase in smoking rates and pollution COPD is projected to be the third leading cause of death by 2020. The basic problem in this disease is that it is undetectable till it becomes severe. COPD is considered as one of the most dangerous diseases, but there is still unawareness about it among the society. So the main approach is to develop a device used to detect COPD and which can be affordable, handy and easy to operate by common people. Anyone in the family can use it, so that instead of going to the doctor every time the readings can be taken and sent to the doctor. The readings can be easily read out on the display. There also can be an arrangement for data storage for further analysis. By using Hot Wire Anemometer flow rate sensor the high cost factor has been eliminated. The instrument is handy and is provided with data storage facility and connection with computer so that later on the data can be given to the doctor for further analysis and prescriptions of medicines. |
