Discovering the potentiality of a distance learning corporate training program in Vietnam

AbstractUnderstanding the need of REC in expanding its business, the research project is to examine the possibility of distance learning in Vietnam in order to let the company know whether it is promising to establish a distance learning corporate training program (DLTP) as the strategic developing direction for REC or not. Assuming that the result is positive, the report also gives some recommendations on building an appropriate model of DLTP for the firm. In the introduction part, the rationale and aims of the research project are discovered with the major and subsidiary research questions. The sources of the data and methodology to do the research are also examined. This part also refers to the limitations occur during the process of researching. After that, through literature review, the research project provides the readers an overall understanding about distance learning through its meaning, types, technology used, and benefits. In order to answer the question which is raised in the statement of the topic, the possibility of REC’s DLTP in Vietnam part gives the readers a whole picture the DL’s status quo in the world, in Asia-Pacific region, and in Vietnam through the PEST analysis. The study also explores the overview of REC, its current and future strategies. The results from the findings in this part via SWOT and Porter’s five forces assist the opportunity of developing DLTP for REC. Moreover, the important points about sample model of DLTP from successful educational organizations such as: University of Phoenix, University of South Africa, and Harvard University may include in the next part. Finally, the project gives some suggestions on developing an appropriate DLTP for the company and its evaluation and control program
