AbstractIn today’s increasingly competitive economy, it has never been easy for a new entrant in any industry. Faced with many challenges when it started its operation in Vietnam, Universal Hong Kong has been struggling hard for the past four years and managed to gain certain achievements. Still, there are a lot more for Universal Hong Kong to do if it would like to seek for sustainable growth. Though successful in building a good customer base including the biggest companies in the fields of oil and gas, Universal Hong Kong has not made good use of it. They have participated only small part in the projects of its customers. For projects, even they are entitled to provide full supply of equipments; it cannot because Universal Hong Kong does not have a supplier for many of the required equipments. The study was conducted to provide a closer look at the current competitiveness of Universal Hong Kong in Vietnam’s market, considering the capability of the company itself, its customers and competitors. Some proposed suggestions are also presented based on the analysis of the company and its competitive situation to help improve the competitiveness and profitability of the company.
