Abstract | Labor turnover is one of the prime issues facing many organizations today. When employees leave their organization, it means the organizations will lose their valuable resources including skill, knowledge, money, time etc that have been invested in employees. Thus, the establishment of employee retention strategies becomes a priority task for human resource people. Likewise, Economic Institute of Cambodia (EIC), one of the research institutes in Cambodia, is also facing a problem of high employee turnover. Therefore, this issue was taken into consideration and became a topic of this research study. The study intends to illustrate what the reasons of turnover are and to investigate on human resource practices that are helping organization to minimize employee turnover. The findings reveal that unclear job responsibilities and workload are the main causes of turnover which are followed by low compensation and leadership style. Therefore, improving human resource practices can be a crucial factor to help organization keep a good resource for its sustainable development.
