AbstractEnlargement of mobile data rates and increasing high capacity demand in cellular networks is mandatory with new communication devices. New devices with multiple functionalities like video streaming and web surfing capabilities acquire high capacity, this demand is compensated by 3GPP and 4G but still it is difficult to cover indoor users properly due to path loss and penetration loss. However, femtocell is a reliable solution for indoor users and long term evolution (LTE) for high data rate demand. On the other hand, extensive femto cell deployment leads to a resultant of substantial consumption of energy especially in idle conditions. For femto energy efficiency three different sleep modes are analyzed. A scenario with 40,000 users in an area, in which 10,000 users are out door and 30,000 indoor users, at first macro power is analyzed only, secondly, three different sleep modes are applied for indoor users. Where FSC sleep mode is 15% energy efficient, NC sleep mode has 25% energy efficiency and UE control sleep mode is 14% efficient annually for the macro/ femto joint network. Next a ROI is analyzed with 7 cells of macro with LTE parameters, making the users with step increase of 10% indoors, it results macro network throughput drops step by step. For same ROI deployment of femtocells and making users indoors, shows an improvement of the network throughput. By calculating ECRs, the network ECR decreases with deployed indoor percentage of the users to the femtocells.
