Abstract | Nowadays, wireless technology is a part in people’s life which facilitates various human lifestyles. People is able to use it easily and do not worry about messy cable. However, there are some drawbacks in wireless communication and the most vital problem is power usage. Especially in wireless sensor network, the main issue is hardware limitations which cause power consumption. Most previous proposals concentrate on novel hardware designing and individual protocol designing in wireless sensor network. Hence, this research suggests another approach is cross layer design that enables sensors to communicate with each other in an efficient manner by developing novel communication protocols. This research enhances interaction among physical, MAC and network layer based on cross layer concept. In addition, this research concentrates on reducing power consumption of routing paths in wireless sensor network. However, there is no routing protocol which checks a network status before constructing a path. Certainly, a judgment which defines network load is low or high is data rate. Therefore, this research proposed a scheme in network layer which measures data rate before constructing a path and selects appropriate algorithm for routing. In addition, we investigate a technique which is able to save more power consumption in physical layer. It is modified on-demand transmission power control (MODTPC) that used to establish neighbor table and control transmission power in order to earn optimal transmission power. Finally, the role of MAC layer is scheduling duty cycle in order to avoid collision. In demonstrations, we compared our routing scheme with other routing algorithm and we found that when data rate are fluctuated only one algorithm cannot yield optimal performance. Therefore, our routing scheme save more power consumption and also prolong a network lifetime. |
