Factors affecting the motivation of employees in Intertek Vietnam

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the motivation of employees working at Intertek Vietnam. The study was carried out based on quantitative method. The primary data was collected from a structured questionnaire provided to 153 staff working at E-town Office, Intertek Vietnam. The study identified seven broad categories of motivation such as: (1) Leadership and Management, (2) Communication, (3) Working Relationship, (4) Empowerment, (5) Training and Development, (6) Performance Management and Reward, (7) Working Environment. The result indicates that physical working conditions, working relationship, leadership and management as well as empowerment are ranked at high motivation factors; meanwhile, communication, training development and performance management are ranked at least motivation factors. In addition, the result also shows a significant difference of level of motivation among gender, difference age group, department, job level and length of services. Finally, the study presented that employee working at Intertek are adequate motivated; however, in order to boost the level of employee motivation and engagement, the board management should focus on satisfy employee‟s higher order needs; hence, the study ends with the recommendation insights for each factor to contribute in building up an inspiring working environment at Intertek Vietnam.
