AbstractWith the development of technology, smart meters are widely used in some developed countries. Smart meter tells us how much energy we are using and can adjust bill for daily usage. Suppliers send and receive the information about electricity and gas consumption without manual reading within a short period and generate accurate billing. Therefore, customer can adjust their daily expenditure. In this paper, IPv6 mesh network is mixed with different operation devices; battery power device and main-line power device and support the smart meter to connect supplier and customer. This paper presents the comparison of linear and nonlinear cost function based on battery remaining life time and drain rate according to LEACH (Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) and receiving signal strength on each node in homogeneous and heterogeneous network.
