AbstractThe rise of robot and robotics has proved to be a boon to humans in different aspects. Evolved from a simple button, robotics has seen a huge development and has been able to become an integral part of human life. Robots are usually used for a wide range of applications ranging from indoor uses to interplanetary missions. Robots have been able to gather unprecedented success in industries as they have significantly increased the productivity of the industries. Recently, the use of robot in indoor environment has been popular in commercial indoor spaces in the form of social robots. The robots are being developed in the form of social robots in commercial indoor spaces like hospitals, shopping malls, houses and offices so as to help human in dealing with complex task or provide a social interaction. As such, taking the increasing use of social robots into consideration, many works have been carried out to develop the robots to make them capable of acting like humans. The notion behind this development is that the robots need to act or offer to help human without being asked for. The social robots should think more like human and suggest possible and suitable actions by analyzing the environment they are in.In other words, indoor social robots have to be proactive. Belief-Desire-Intention is one of the most popular models for developing rational agents. This work tries to develop architecture for making Waldo, an indoor robot, proactive based on the foundation of BDI model. The work theoretically explains the activities and tasks which the robot can perform so as so to be more proactive with added utility value and establishes a base explaining how such capabilities can be achieved. The possible integration of learning paradigm in the architecture is also qualitatively explained in this work.
