Abstract | The precast concrete panel has been generally utilized as an exterior wall in high-rise buildings due to construction time saving, a certain quality, and shape variety. Despite this wall is widespread around the world and some hazard failure mechanism subjected to the earthquake was observed, provision or study in this area is barely provided since it is considered as a nonstructural component. Furthermore, the construction techniques vary from country to country. As a result, the prefabrication and installation survey was administered in order to obtain the typical detail of construction. Afterward, two specimens, which were prefabricated to imitate the practical wall, were tested under cyclic loading. Strain gauges and transducers were installed to examine the wall behavior. Crack pattern and failure mode were observed. The result showed that specimen can resist the applied story drift up to 2.50% to 2.75%. Cracks were concentrated around the connections. Specimens were failed at both lower connections. Moreover, upper connections still provided the capacity to carry the wall after the failure, which is desirable in the case of safety. |
