| Abstract | After taking an overview on strategy issues of Jotun Paints Vietnam, the research author
analyzes strength, weakness, opportunity and threat (SWOT) of Jotun Paints Vietnam. The
result helps the company verify which areas need to be maintained and which areas need to
be improved.
Problem Solving Process with eight steps and 5Whys - question technique are used to find
problems of the company related to competitiveness and some solutions are given. After
completion of the eight-stage cycle of process, another cycle can be started to find and
solve another problem of the company. This helps the organization to ensure continuous
improvement.
In this research, the concept of Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) is used to solve
problems related to competitiveness of the company. SMED is one of the many “LEAN”
production methods for reducing waste in a manufacturing process. With shorter
changeover times, the company competitiveness will be increased.
