Abstract | The research study aims to understand the root causes of and to reduce employee turnover rate at Long Thanh industrial zone (Dong Nai Province, Viet Nam). As a matter of fact, the expectation of workers upon their companies is not satisfied which increases the job turnover. Workers expect to have a good salary, job security, promotion as well as good working environment. Long Thanh industrial zone is now facing with the high rate of turnover, which causes great damages to companies. As recruiting new employees, companies have to spend some time on training that new one which cost time and money. On the other hand, lots of companies in Long Thanh industrial zone do not put much focus on satisfying their employees. Thus, it is likely that they will quit their job if they find a better job with higher payroll. If they still continue that old job, they just slow down the work. As a result, their productivity is low because they are not motivated. It is suggested that employer should consider Maslow’s theory of human needs to motivate their employees. They should reconsider the salary whether it is enough for their employees to support themselves and other member of their families or not. On the other hand, there should be incentives and honor policies for excellent employees. Besides, employees should be sent to training course so that they can improve their skills. Last but not least, the communication among colleagues and managers should be highly implemented. Therefore, employers are able to understand what their employees want. In brief, to cut down the job turnover, companies should conduct research to understand what employees need or want. Once the employees are satisfied, they will devote themselves to their jobs. |
