AbstractIn this study, both theoretical work and laboratory experiment were conducted on biochar. Most of the focus is on Coconut Shell biochar and rest of the work was done on Rice Husk and Wood biochar. A literature review is done to estimate the property affecting heavy metal adsorption capacity of biochar. To reduce the impurity from biochar, Digestion Leach Method is performed keeping coal as a reference. A laboratory batch test is performed to observe the difference in adsorption capacity and overall efficiency to clean artificial water sample. Then experiment is conducted on two different sets of biochar sample. One set includes biochar without treatment and other with treatment. The methods adopted in this study to clean biochar from impurity is cost effective and cheaper from activation cost. Comparative study is conducted between different biochar and among their treated version. Results are analyzed for which biochar is better to adsorb the heavy metal i.e., zinc and lead. Results were analyzed for adsorption of two heavy metal lead and zinc. The treated coconut shell, rice husk and wood biochar show highest adsorption of 88%, 93.8% and 93.6% for 15 ppm concentration of zinc in water. The treated wood, rice husk, coconut shell shows highest lead adsorption at 15 ppm of 96%, 39.3% and 33.4%.
