| Abstract | The shore-base & logistic service is new concept and quite complicated in Vietnam market, especially in oil & gas industry. It plays a very important part in contributing to the success of oil & gas company’s operations. Moreover, oil & gas industry is always required strict complying because of working conditions are difficult and dangerous. Particularly, most of oil drilling and exploring activities in Vietnam have been done offshore, so the need of building and completing the shore-base and logistic services to meet the highest demand of clients is very necessary. Shore-base and logistic service has to apply the operating guideline of “Timely – Safe – Efficient”.
PTSC Supply Base (PSB) is a subsidiary of PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), a member of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam). Established in 1993, PSB is one of the first subsidiaries of PTSC. Over 20 years of build up and development, PSB has been keeping the national leader in this service in Vietnam.
There are large demands for shore-base and logistic service in the oil and gas industry with wide range differing from oil & gas operators and service companies. However, requirement in oil and gas industry is of high standard. Thus, PSB has been improving efficiency the shore-base and logistic service to fully satisfy clients’ demands. The target of company is becoming a one-stop center for supplying professional and full-package logistic services for the oil and gas company in Vietnam and region.
In this research, the author would like to express PSB’s goal to be the prodigious regional supply base and aims to improve efficiency the shore-base & logistic service to meet the clients and market requirement. Some of the well-known business analysis tools (SWOT, Five Forces Model…) have used to analyze the internal and external business environment of PSB. Based on the results of the analysis, PSB can identify its opportunities, threats, strengths and weakness for improving efficiency for this service.
With the aim improving efficiency of the shore-base and logistic service, every year PSB has also conducted a questionnaire survey with their main clients to identify in a specific way of the service needs of their client, on the aspects of: scope of service, pricing, and other related factors…In this research, the author - as a person in charge of the Commercial Department of PSB, where receiving many Clients’ feedbacks about quality services, both positive encouragement and constructive complaints - used the outcomes of analyses and surveys as a recommended development process for the improving efficiency of the shore-base and logistic service at PSB. |
