AbstractIt must be admitted that the credit institutions have an important role in providing the range of payment services, to help develop trading activities between Viet Nam and companies abroad. Recognizing the importance of the payment in foreign trade contracts, the contracting parties always choose the appropriate payment method to protect its interests in case of disputes. The business and commercial banking services has been extended modern and rapid development, including international payment operations. Currently, there are several methods of payment in international trade, such as collection, cash, documentary credits... The documentary credit is the payment method most commonly used. Many companies, banks preferred documentary credit because it meets the main requirements of international trade. Based on analysis of the current status of international payment operations over the years with the difficulties and problems at Vung Tau VCB, the author would like to propose measures to further improve the performing of international payment operations by document credits.
