Abstract | The heterogeneity of wireless access network, mobile devices and web applications has created different complexities and opportunities for future research. One of the challenges in such an environment is the mobility management for optimum use of network resources. Mobility management refers here to vertical handover management and network selection as mobile moves from one network to another. Therefore, there is a need of proper vertical handover and network selection decision solutions. In this thesis work, we have presented a reputation based decision solution for vertical handover and network selection in multihoming environment. Reputation based solution refers to the decision based on the quality of service the user has experienced using the network. For this scenario, we have used SCTP as our mobility protocol. SCTP provides the multihoming facilities that help to reduce handover delay, packet loss and increase throughput during handover. We have shown the effectiveness of decision solution in increasing total quality of service of users. |
