Abstract | Performance analysis and power allocation for a cognitive Ad hoc network with relay assisted primary link is carried out mainly in the thesis. Performance analysis of the system for multiple parallel relay scenario with no fading channels applied to the primary links shows that although increment in the number of parallel relays results in better performance in the system the best performance increment can be achieved when a single relay is introduced to the system. Then fading was applied to primary links and analysis was done for single relay scenario for both cases where noise is presence and absence at the relay. Increase in system performance can be seen with availability of multiple channels and time slots in the system while decrease in system performance shown when number of interferes are increased. A power allocation algorithm via signomial programming is introduced for cog- nitive users to maximize their capacity or rate. This algorithm can be used in situa- tions where both primary communication hops, transmitter-relay and relay-destination, transmit simultaneously in same frequency as surrounding secondary transmitters and the power allocation guarantee the interference to the primary network lower than a threshold value. |
