Abstract | Routing protocols present a major element in MANET and VANET environments. Studying their performance is of immense importance especially when the nodes are endowed with mobility patterns which implies limitations in the data communication achievable performance as well as constraints in the link lifetime and stability. It also immediately implies dynamic variations of the network topology, leading to a very challenging task: the routing protocol should be able to keep pace to such changes. Even though Optimized Link State Routing protocol has proved its ability to be suitable for MANET/VANET environments, there has been little effort on how to configure its parameters in order to evaluate its performance in terms of latency, reactivity, power consumption and available bandwidth in a real outdoor MANET or VANET experiment. Since routing protocol's behavior may vary heavily due to its parameter configuration, we aim at investigating OLSR performance when using intERLab's wireless equipments, especially brand new TP-Link TL-MR3040 routers. Major attention will be given to tuning TC and/or HELLO intervals. The obtained configurations will be compared through several realistic throughput experiments, delay measurements, topology change latency and power consumption experimentations. |
