| Abstract | Service provision is one type of business activity that can bring firms significant profits. Oil and gas exploration and exploitation are the major functions of Vietsovpetro Joint Venture (Vietsovpetro), nevertheless, in order to increase efficiency of using human and material resources, Vietsovpetro has provided different types of services to companies in oil and gas industry. Due to insufficiency of drilling rigs capacity for drilling plan, Vietsovpetro has not supplied drilling service yet. However, Vietsovpetro will participate in market of drilling services when its number of drilling wells is shrinking. A question raised for Vietsovpetro is that “How can Vietsovpetro succeed in provision of drilling services?”
To answer above question, author researched and analyzed factual conditions of Vietsovpetro for identifying advantages and disadvantages as well as factors influencing competitive capability of Vietsovpetro in drilling service market on base of using theories about analyzing general and industry environments such as PEST and Porter’s five forces model of competition, about analyzing SWOT and business-level strategy.
After analyzing aforesaid elements, author made solutions for successfulness of Vietsovpetro in drilling services provision. The given solutions are devised and described in four main parts: strategy, equipment and technology, human resources and management issues. Although scope of research and analysis is limited, author also hopes the solutions will be considered. Knowledge is wide and endless so it will be great if you give opinions to adapt and make this study more persuadable. |
