AbstractIn late 90’s, the Government of Vietnam has taken important steps towards recognizing the roles of private sectors in the economy. Many private limited liability companies were established and showed the dynamic approach in business developments. In 2007, Vietnam became the 150th Members of the WTO. This opened great opportunities for private companies with big markets for their products. It however required the company to seriously consider the comprehensive transformation and plan for the global competition. Tich Giang is one of those companies which was born in the early period of the open policy and has achieved remarkable business growths since establishment. The company aimed at improving the management capabilities so as to strengthen the current plastic trading business and invest into plastic production for export. This requires the company to make radical changes in the whole system including restructuring, improving operational efficiency, mobilizing financial and human resources, decentralizing management processes. The research assesses the company’s change factors and makes strategic recommendations for the management of the transformation efforts.
