AbstractNowadays the environment problems are on worldwide attention. Following the trend of environment protection, Vietnam is contributed to environmental protection including the production of environment-friendly products. The petroleum is essential consumer goods of life. It is not only important items influencing on the Vietnam economy, but also a matter of energy security of the country. Annual gasoline consumption is very large and also the emission into the environment is substantial. PVOIL, a subsidiary company of Petrovietnam, is operating in Vietnam's manufacturing sector and petroleum business. Although, the bio-fuel has been used worldwide for a long time, however, in Vietnam, the bio-fuel is a new product. This new product is tested on actual vehicles from May 2010. This research will give strategies for developing a domestic bio-fuels business in Vietnam. PVOIL is trying to produce bio-fuels, a clean fuel and environmental friendliness. However, for the manufacture and trading of bio-fuels in the local market to ensure competitive with conventional gasoline, PVOIL need to build a good business strategy, with the goal of competitiveness and market shares. In order to do it, PVOIL to see properly on the market, consumer’s perception, careful analysis of the factors inside and outside to find business solutions in the short and long term to achieve the survival and sustainable development. Therefore, this paper will focus on strategic planning issues and analyzed the factors affecting the business strategy of PVOIL bio-fuels petrol market in Vietnam.
