AbstractCurrently, Viet Nam is a market which has fierce competition between the local and foreign retailers. Among these, Saigon Co.op is the biggest retailer in Viet Nam. What happens to Saigon Co.op? They are facing many difficulties and challenges from big rivals such as Big C, Metro, Lotte, Aeon, etc. In this scenario, Saigon Co.op has to find solutions in order to bring innovation to their strategies and management. The purchasing department has an important role in Saigon Co.op which affects all operation systems in the company. It is the innovation of the department that helps the company rival against others. With knowledge studied from EMBA program in AIT HCM VN, together with my working experience in Saigon Co.op, This research analyzes the situation in order to find the solutions for strategy and management in the purchasing department of Saigon Co.op. This will contribute to the sustainable development of Saigon Co.op as a whole so it can become a Vietnamese brand that Vietnamese people are proud of.
