Abstract | Due to the market demands and violent competition among retail supermarkets in Vietnam, Saigon Co.op must go ahead in developing retail supermarket chain in most big cities of Vietnam. It is no doubt that Saigon Co.op is facing many difficulties and challenges when the retail market appears many competitors such as Big C, Lotte Mart, Metro Cash Carry, Maximark,… thus a question raised for Saigon Co.op is how to promptly complete as well as improve its competitive advantages. Current strategy of developing the new retail supermarket chain over big cities of Vietnam positively affects to the business performance of Saigon Co.op. Based on the knowledge learned from EMBA course and experience gained from my job, I have studied the need of developing the retail supermarket chain of Saigon Co.op. I would have analyzed problems and challenges of such retail chain development, and then proposed some recommendations and solutions in order to eliminate the existing problems and rapidly push the development process of retail supermarket chain. The development of retail supermarket chain of Saigon Co.op plays a critically important role for Vietnam retail market in generally and for Saigon Co.op in particularly. The Vietnam retail market has been rapidly growth in recent years so it has a great potential for retailers. Therefore, Saigon Co.op should develop its retail supermarket chain stably and sustainably in order to improve the competitive advantages in the aggressive competition of the retail market. |
