Abstract | This paper empirically examines the magnitudes of remittances to Bangladesh and its impact on development and growth of the Bangladesh economy. The first part of the thesis describes the extent and evolution of remittances, which is followed by an empirical analysis. The results suggest that the relationship between remittances, investment and growth is ambiguous. However, remittances seem to exert a relatively strong impact on human capital through which growth is also influenced. A discussion of the policy implications concludes the thesis. |
