Abstract | A brief look at the far and wide ranging issues and impediments relating to the implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action (UNISDR, 2005) its goals and objectives in Thailand. I have used the available literature; reports from the Thai Government, UN, INGOs, Newspapers, reports and various other internet sources to get a better idea of the problems faced by nations in general by adapting the climate change goals and objectives of the Hyogo Framework for Action, and more specifically, as they relate to Thailand. The results have shown there are many issues that affect the implementation conceptual issues, practical issues, international and overall political weight needed to motivate and carry the process forward. The results are a slow moving process that appears to not fully be understood and will demand that more time and attention, training and capacity building be carried out and concomitant authority and financial decentralization to enable the process. The political willingness and motivation is directly proportional to the whole process. |
